SO YOU WANT TO READ MY CANON

Are you interested in looking into the Vorkosigan Saga? Well you should be, because it's a fantastic series that gets things like emotions and reproductive rights and the struggles of the disabled and mentally ill all up in your sci-fi, which is so good! There are just a few things to be aware of going in:

The series was written starting in the 1980s, so even though it was crazy progressive for its time, there are some things it's just not up with right now. For example, the series features individuals who are neither male nor female, and the pronoun use is very much not appropriate for non-gendered/gender-fluid individuals as we understand it today. So bear with it for its occasionally regressive progressivism.

The series features some sexualized violence, particularly in the early books. That falls away later on.

Still with it? Then there are a few ways you can tackle the books:

All of em.
If you want to read absolutely everything, the books go in this order:
Falling Free
Shards of Honor
Barrayar
The Warrior's Apprentice
The Mountains of Mourning (short story)
The Vor Game
Cetaganda
Ethan of Athos
Labyrinth (short story)
The Borders of Infinity (short story)
Brothers in Arms
Mirror Dance
Komarr
A Civil Campaign
Winterfair Gifts (short story)
Diplomatic Immunity
Captain Vorpatril's Alliance
Cryoburn
Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen

Main timeline.
If you're interested only in the main plot (Miles turning into a grown up, kinda), you can read the following books:
Shards of Honor
Barrayar
The Warrior's Apprentice
The Mountains of Mourning (short story)
The Vor Game
Labyrinth (short story)
The Borders of Infinity (short story)
Brothers in Arms
Mirror Dance
Komarr
A Civil Campaign

That shitlord Byerly.
If you're only interested in Byerly, in spite of the fact that he's trash, he's in the following books:
A Civil Campaign
Captain Vorpatril's Alliance

The fun ones.
Some of the books are more fun standalone pieces! The ones that you can read pretty much on their own and have a really great time with it are:
Shards of Honor
Barrayar
The Warrior's Apprentice
Cetaganda
A Civil Campaign (okay you can't really read this one on its own but it's just SO MUCH FUN)
Diplomatic Immunity
Captain Vorpatril's Alliance
Cryoburn
